Write It Down

KIND HEART

FIERCE MIND

BRAVE SPIRIT

All it takes is a few words. Think of a phrase. Think of another phrase. It doesn’t have to be anything totally amazing. It could be a fancy grocery list. Just write it down.

Grab a marker or pen or paintbrush and write it down. Does it need any more attention? Enhancement? Colors, outlines, details? Make it your and at the same time you can make it beautiful. Write It Down.

Create It.

ATC’s?

I’m sending out this question to the web world: Are ATCs still popular? Are there still creatives who take the time to make Artist Trading Cards? I think there are, but I can’t find my people. If you make Artist Trading Cards, do you do it just for fun, for learning, or just to show up and work through creative resistance?

Oh, there’s that word. Resistance. I think of Slimmer that ghost blob from Ghostbusters. Resistance to me is sticky and gooey, it slows me down, makes me second guess what I’m trying to create. I’m pushing through the green slime. I’m not letting it stop me. Cards will be made! I guarantee it.

Going Places

I pasted this poem snippet about the beach into my art journal. So, of course I’m making a layout about the beach—one of my favorite places. If a poem calls to you, there is a reason. You have to find out what that reason is. After you find your reason, the poem sparks, and you have to put it into your journal. You have to! Why not? Add it, and then write a little blurb about why you added it. And then, if you don’t like it, you can black it out. We all know about Blackout Poetry. Give that a try. It’s fun.

Wise Owl

aPRIL 17

This was one of those days when we did things I didn’t think we would. We went to see Monsters vs. Aliens in 3D. It was so much fun! After that, we stopped off at Walmart for a bit of shopping. Later on, Jade and I watched Jane Eyre (with Timothy Dalton). We have five more episodes to go. I didn’t think she would be into it, but she is. Ahhh, the classics! I love them.

I’m beginning the sequel to Chocolat… It makes me hungry, not just for food and sweets, but for attention and inspiration in areas that I lack confidence. I’m hungry for ways I can be of help to others. To beautify the world. Hungry for opportunities for perspective, for quiet solitude. I’m hungry for a milder inner critic if I have to have one… I’m hungry for deliverance from indecision. Hungry for a never-ending fountain of [creative] energy.

Too Much To Ask?

Good Luck

I’m always looking for beautiful things. Sometimes I don’t even know I’m doing it, and my journal pages end up looking like this.

A Bad Day

March 5

The day began with our power being shut off. I lost it—a classic nervous breakdown. I was crying my eyes out. We had to pay $150 to get it turned back on.

Thankfully, I had a neighbor and friend to help me through it. She called the power company for me and reminded me that everyone can have a bad day. Sometimes, you can’t control the things that are coming at you. You can only control how you will react to them. Mindset!

Everything is up to you from the moment you wake up until you rest your head at night. Your emotions. Your thoughts. Your perceptions. Your actions. Every moment.
